Brad Pitt
could cruise through life on his hot looks and stellar acting skills alone, and we
would still love him. But vain adoration is not enough for the talented actor—he
also earns our respect through true charity. Marking the 5-year anniversary of
Hurricane Katrina, Pitt sat down with The
Times-Picayune to discuss his foundation, Make it Right NOLA. He talked
about his love for the city of New Orleans, and how the Make it Right
foundation has built eco-friendly, sustainable homes at the epicenter of the
disaster, transforming tragedy into an opportunity for hope, community, and the
advancement of sustainable design principles. “I was in the Lower 9th for
Memorial Day,” said Pitt. “Families were barbecuing and swimming in the little,
you know, pop-up swimming pools. And families were coming together and saying
hi. You know, the simple acts of kindness. A lot of residents no longer have
only a cynical view of Katrina, they have a brighter perspective about life.”
Lesson to Paris Hilton?
“Design” can go beyond mini-skirts and it-purses, and it is possible to be hip and
cutting edge while helping others.
Speaking of New Orleans, Sandra Bullock has had the
storm-ravaged city on her mind, too. She was there yesterday to help open a new
health clinic at the Warren Easton Charter High School, which she sponsors. But Sandra is more than a source of funding
for the public school, which boasts an impressive graduation rate near 100%.
“It was more than her money,” said board member Arthur Hardy. “She is like our
spiritual leader. She is our angel.” Ever humble, Bullock refused to take all
the credit, saying: “I have seen nothing but unimaginable kindness,
perseverance and hope right in this room here. It gives me great pleasure to be
in the company of these people who have actually made the difference. They did
the hard work, they are here sitting before you.”
Lesson to Paris Hilton?
Humble celebrities can grab headlines too, and while your partying and
self-indulgent lifestyle may garner attention, it will never get you the kind
of unrestrained love that Sandra Bullock enjoys from her fans.
Pitt and Bullock are just
the tip of the celebrity-do-good iceberg. Emma
Watson has an eco-fashion line in the works, George Clooney just scored an Emmy for raising awareness for Darfur and funds for Hurricane Katrina victims, and Cyndi Lauper, Anna Paquin, and Elton John all support gay rights.
In addition to being well-loved, each of these celebrities are able to attract
significant media attention and loads of fan support, without ever getting arrested. Paris Hilton, take note!
To do this kind of work one must love others as much as themselves if not more in some cases. Paris is about Paris and nothing more. People like her, be they rich or poor just don't get it and never will. I feel sorry for her reguardless of the amount of money she has however as with all things we must move on and leave people like her behind. They just corode everything around them.

The lawyer for Paris Hilton wants the courts to deal with the matter - well I wish they would !!
This is the second (?) time this girl has been found in posession of illegal substances. If this were anyone else the US court system would apply swift justice and send the guilty person off to jail for a long time (more than 90 days!)
It is sickening to me that there is one set of lenient laws for the rich and famous and another considerably less than lenient set of laws for the rest of us.

Why can't we just send Paris to rehab in the Middle East - the world would so much better off

The media created this 'celebrity' in the first place. She's got them wrapped around her finger now 'cause she brings in the cash. If the media would just ignore her, no one would care and perhaps she could be treated like any other person arrested for the second time with illegal substances. But I suppose she'll still have her Daddy's money and name to help her through...

Paris Hilton's purse contained .8 grams of cocaine, cigarette wrappers commonly used for marijuana and a broken tablet of Albuterol when she was searched after a traffic stop, according to the police report. The heiress, 29, was charged with felony cocaine possession following her weekend arrest in Las Vegas. The drug charge carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison if convicted. Police pulled over the car in which she was riding on Las Vegas's famed Strip when an officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. The arrest report says Hilton was taken into the nearby Wynn Las Vegas hotel "at her request".This on a regular news not a tabloid that lies!

Really? It was a friend's purse is the best excuse she's got? I don't know about her, but if I'm borrowing something like that off a friend, I usually check the pockets to make sure they haven't missed something. Apparently the cocaine also went along good with Paris' outfit. I'm sorry but that girl plans out her outfits, so to need a new bag in a pinch...Ya right. Hun fess up to the fact you are nothing now, that the world has tossed you aside like a pet rock. Nobody even cares if you are doing drugs...We've thought it for years.

In my opinion, Paris seems to think she's royalty of some kind. If she took a look at Queen Elizabeth's work ethic, her knees would weaken. If her parents had half an ounce of sense, they'd start her at rock-bottom in the company and work at every station within the central office until she knew the place backwards and inside-out instead of having the free time to get into this kind of trouble. It shows how much Daddy Hilton really cares, however, by naming his daughter after a hotel in the first place.

I am so sick to death of these so called "celebrities" receiving attention for being losers that break the law. These talentless people should crawl under a rock and disappear. Better yet, let them serve their full terms in jail for crying out loud!!

TRAPPED MINERS ,,FLOODS ..MILLIONS HOMELESS...ETC...OH AND THAT OTHER "DISASTER" WE KEEP HEARING ABOUT."PARIS THE FREAK HILTON"...THIS WORLD IS GETTING SICKER...

maybe we should have her put on that half hour sit com. where they take lazy rich kids and the parents that spoiled them and have them do low paying jobs to maybe put some sence of what it takes to do low paying jobs and what "real" people do for 40hrs. a week. like her, they dont learn either. james

She should just stick to porn. She's obviously heading down that track.

people like paris hilton ,that look for this much attention should be left alone to embrace their face in a mirror. with any luck they might even get tired of looking at themselves.

Maybe Paris Hilton has emotional problem. She maybe is an emotionally-ill person. She wants to be talked about and likes to catch the attention of the people.
