Fox has responded with
dismay, inviting pundits and behavioural experts to weigh in on Cusack’s
comments. Psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman told
Fox411, "His provocative
tweets could easily incite a rabid fan to commit violent acts against Fox News headquarters
and others he names. Fans could not only be influenced because of their
devotion to Cusack, the man, but also because of their love for one of the
characters he plays."
Who knew that tweeting could
be so dangerous? And yes, while I agree that Cusack’s comments were
inappropriate, I think it’s pretty clear that he was employing sarcasm. Too bad
we can’t say the same for the following Fox commentators and hosts, who were
quite serious in their efforts to malign Canada, single women, the environment,
homosexuals and Lady Gaga.
Take, for instance, Ann
Coulter, who appeared on Hannity and Colmes in 2004, saying that Canadians had
“better hope the United States doesn't roll over one night and crush them. They
are lucky we allow them to exist on the same continent.” That was the same year
that Crossfire co-host Tucker Carlson said that “Canada is essentially
Honduras, but colder and much less interesting,” and that “most sort of
vigorous, ambitious Canadians, at least almost all comedians in Canada, come to
the United States in the end. Doesn't that tell you something about the sort of
limpid, flaccid nature of Canadian society, that people with ambition come
here? What does that tell you about Canada?”
Later on Fox, Your World
with Neil Cavuto and Cavuto on Business host Neil Cavuto ran headlines asking
whether single women who purchase homes were ruining America, and suggesting
that global warming was great for the economy.
And in March of this year,
Fox contributor Sandy Rios got her knickers in a twist over Lady Gaga’s Telephone
video, saying, “Gaga and Beyoncé gay lesbian lovers? It’s disgusting… this is
poison for the minds of our kids. And our minds.”
Obviously the Fox Network
only approves of hatred towards certain groups, and Fox itself is not one of them. By the way, if our PM has his way, Canada may soon be host
to its very own Fox-style channel. Sarah Polley, get your tweeting fingers ready…
What the hell is the "FOX Network"
FOX and FOX News are separate entities.

The company that owns Fox News gave $1 million to Republican Party and they say their fair, come on.
Posted by: Paul | 09/01/2010 at 06:14 PM
People take fox news seriously?
Posted by: Geoff | 09/01/2010 at 06:20 PM
What a bunch of whining crybabies you all are. Someone who once appeared on Fox News as a guest said something that was not politically oorrect! Oh, the horror.
Posted by: Jethro | 09/01/2010 at 06:21 PM
I think the headline should be changed to "John Cusack proves he's a moron"
Posted by: Jethro | 09/01/2010 at 06:27 PM
The psychiatrist making a diagnosis without seeing the patient should loose her ticket to practice. As to Anne Coulter she is as relevant as gum on the bottom of a shoe and Glen Beck incites more violence with his rants! As far as I am concerned the US has slid to the common dominator of "dumb"

The left poses the biggest danger to Canada. Opposed to free speech (trying to stop SUN-TV from getting a news channel - no more freedom of press? No free speech unless approved by socialists? Oh, yeah...anything lefties disagree with is "hate speech" and must be banned). Being a paranoid Canadian socialist is so easy. You don't have to debate or THINK about issues...just shut down all discussion by calling folks you disagree with "hate-mongers" or some type of "phobe" (Islama and Homo the 2 popular ones at the moment). You people and the author of this piece of nothing article are what's wrong with Canada.

Hey, leave John Cusack alone - he's my favorite actor, but if you want to rip into Lady Caca (I know what the bimbo's name is - her music is crap hence Caca!) feel free to do so!
Posted by: The Ripper | 09/01/2010 at 07:25 PM
If no one response to this crap what will happen to Fox News!!!exactly
Posted by: John | 09/01/2010 at 07:31 PM
Hey jethro your name fits - how about we change headline to "Now everyone knows Jethro is a moron"
Posted by: Albert | 09/01/2010 at 07:33 PM
There are two separate issues here. Yes, Cusack is pushing the right button. However, don't confuse that with Canada. We are, in simple fact of majority, a nation of American wannabes. If it's any good, it comes from the USA.
Posted by: Ray | 09/01/2010 at 09:04 PM
WoW!! Freedom of speech is great for all voices to be heard...just seems like FoxNews likes to spew their own idiocracy and idiots listen to it!!!!
Posted by: shera | 09/01/2010 at 09:45 PM
I'm not afraid about the US crushing Canada, most American still don't know where it is !
Posted by: Joh | 09/01/2010 at 09:47 PM
About rolling over and crusing us Canadians. I think the Americanos tried that during the war of 1812 when we burnt the White House.
Posted by: Larry | 09/01/2010 at 10:14 PM
Why are we commenting on 'stuff' commented on 6 - 7 years ago? Was that the last time the writer listened to Fox?
Good grief Canadians...catch up will ya? We are the best and will always be the best. Let Obama and his gang roll over and crush the States.
Posted by: Terry | 09/01/2010 at 10:23 PM
The States probably could roll over and crush Canada considering they have ridiculously high obesity rates or they could send one of their genetically enhanced cows to get the job done-lol

Every time Fox News gets me mad at USans I think of the most oppressed minority there. That would be the wise, the intelligent and the educated. And I weep for them.
Posted by: Neil | 09/01/2010 at 11:50 PM
Looks like that idiot Cusack is obviously a Liberal Democratic ass kisser and Obama supporter. Fox News is the only one that tells the truth and has the parts to do so.
Posted by: Graham | 09/02/2010 at 02:35 AM
chuckle, chuckle, snort, cough, choke....Whew, feeling better now after that laugh. Thanks Graham, needed that one. News and truth do not belong together and Fox and truth should not be seen in the same room--natural enemies and all.
Neil, you said it best, I think. But, ray, ray, I am shaking my head. The last thing I consider myself is a wannabe american. Better to consider myself a tulip...equally productive.
Free speech is an ephemeral concept that only has meaning when one person wants to say what he or she wants, everyone else be damned. However, after waving the flag, said person mysteriously forgets the concept when confronted with an issue they disagree with...suddenly free speech is overrated. Take for example the brouha over Mzzz Coulters canadian ....visit....Talk radio jumped on that bandwagon faster than a hooker on a celebrity. All talk was about how we should be ashamed at quashing her mentally shaky diatribe...What about free speech, they screamed. Well, I say we exercised OUR right to free speech and told her to shut up and get out. Or is this another case of forgetting?

Satanists is a bit extreme, but might alas be true. Lady Gaga is too confused anatomically to be gay and straight at the same time if proven up close and Beyonce is married with a dick bigger than a baseball bat and a rod should be jealous of this.
Posted by: Madonna Gaga secret mom | 09/02/2010 at 04:24 AM
Who cares what others think anyway, are we so in need of approval? Sheesh...
Posted by: Tom Monaghan | 09/02/2010 at 05:59 AM
Two points ask an american how many states Canada has and they'll tell you Fifty hows that for intelligence. Second the United states of idiots went to war in 1812 with Canada the only time why because we beat their A--es then.
Posted by: Sandra Chate | 09/02/2010 at 06:38 AM
Ray, I don't know about you, but I am no American wanna be. They are so full of themselves. Quite frankly, who gives a s%$t what they say or do. I think they are just jealous cause most of the world can't stand the big blow- hards. Our singer/actors or whatever head for the states cause they know nothing will happen to them if they get busted for drugs or drunk driving..
