Within the proposal Perry’s mom reportedly compares herself to Billy Ray Cyrus and Jon Voight, parents “whose children [Miley Cyrus and Angelina Jolie] have risen to fame and live contrary to their parents' beliefs.”
Katy Perry’s fame came with the success of her first hit, “I Kissed a Girl,” and watching her daughter perform the song inspired mixed feelings in Perry’s mom: "I recognized the psalmist gift in her performance. Yet she sang out, 'I kissed a girl, and I liked it,' while thousands joined her. One part of my heart soared . . . the other part broke for the thousands of hungry souls being fed something that didn't nourish their spirit, but fed their flesh."
But despite her Christian concerns, Mary Perry Hudson is no stranger to the excesses of fame. Long before she found God, she found Jimi Hendrix. Katy Perry once dished to CBS reporter Katie Couric about her parents’ psychedelic youth: “My mum went on a date with Jimi Hendrix. My dad was a part of Strawberry Fields Forever and hung out with Timothy Leary,” she said. “My parents have stories. They probably have better stories than I do.”
But these days the only backstage passes Mary Perry Hudson is accepting are for her daughter’s sinful shows. In her proposal, she describes the scene behind the curtain at one of Perry’s concerts:
"Katy stepped out from behind the changing doors in a tiny risqué costume. No mother wants to see the top of her daughter's boobs…My first instinct was to order her back behind those doors and demand she put something else on…However, I had no problem letting my eyebrows say what I wouldn't allow my mouth to utter."
It’s a natural progression of dissatisfaction really. Ask any mother and she’ll tell you: after the cautionary eyebrow lift comes the dramatic exposé. I just hope that if Mrs. Perry Hudson's book finds a publisher, they’ll ask her to intersperse her opinions on Katy Perry and Russell Brand with juicy details from her own illicit past.
Well, Mary, your daughter needs to show her boobs because she doesn't have enough singing talent to get by on.

Matthew 6:19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Christains are hilarious they will spend all day and preach about the bible yet they're got is the god of sex and that is a sin.sex isn't the christain thing to do,either is drinking and drugs..look the point is you have to refrain from all of that and be a virgin to worship any right god..Western world doesn't do that!

I guess Katie's mom has no respect for Katie's privacy. Why would you do that to your child? Her personal life should be her own business to tell if she wants to. Not her mothers. Grow up mom.

Looks like some cleavage is showing on Katy's mom. No daughter wants to see that.

If her mother is so christian she wouldn't be trying to put out a book, seems more like she wants some of the money and fame herself and is using christianity as her vehicle. Shame on her.

If Katy's mom really was a hippie before she became a devout christian, shouldn't she see her daughter's behaviour as mirroring her own? She should be thinking that Katy just needs to get her "risque" behaviour out of her system before settling down.

"Judge not, lest ye be judged." - Jebus (the Bible)
"Live and let live." - Paul McCartney
Christians always seem to forget those two rules. Well, real Christians wouldn't. Ones who actually study their text with a little historical context and humility do. The rest - well - 10 bucks says I get through the gates before they do.

Well Katie has talent, and the outfits she should probably rethink at some point, but she's young and that's the trend to dress/shock!!! her parents, being "christians"?? Well, so far my experience with any religious group, and I've known all of them, is they are extremely judgemental to those not in "their flock", or congregation. Katie is just trying to be herself away from the family, and good for her...Marrying Russel Brand was probably a mistake, but let's see where that goes.

I am a christian. I am an ordained minister in my faith. Having said that, if Katy Perry's mom is offended by her actions, she should pray.. NOT go to a publisher to sell a book. She should be ashamed of herself. As for Kevin, Christians are not perfect. We make mistakes just like everyone else. My question is this: why do people condemn ALL christians for the hypocrisy and stupidy of some? Seems to me that is the definiation of bigot!
